Part 1: If you’ve been listening to or reading the news over the past year then you know that substance use & addictions have increased significantly during Covid. In this episode Leslie Clark, Executive Director for the Portland Recovery Community Center (PRCC), discusses PRCC’s mission of providing support education and resources for people recovering from and affected by addiction, and to spread the message of hope throughout the state of Maine.
PRCC on Forest Avenue in Portland provides a safe haven for people in recovery and offers a home for meetings and activities devoted to recovery from substance use disorder and other addictions. PRCC is operated by staff and volunteers who are passionate about recovery, and every activity is designed to help people with their daily recovery efforts.
In the last Living Life with Lynda episode, #119, we spoke with Crossroads on this same topic and I love that they work together with PRCC to help people recovery in our communities. Part 1: Crossroads Maine is an addiction treatment and behavioral health treatment center that provides gender-responsive treatment programs that enable clients to recover from addiction in a safe, supportive environment and develop the skills and strategies necessary to support long-term recovery from substance use. Dr. Mary Anne Roy is a licensed psychologist, certified clinical supervisor and the Chief Clinical Officer of Crossroads. In this episode, she discusses the various treatment plans they offer, including multiple outpatient and inpatient programs, as well as other resources available to help people with recovery from addiction and eating disorders.

He also founded Man Up to Cancer, which is a helpful and headstrong community built to inspire men — and the people who love them — to connect and avoid isolation throughout their cancer journeys. Trevor, as a husband and father of two teenage daughters, has been living with stage IV colorectal cancer since March of 2018. On this episode, we talk about his journey with cancer and why he founded this very important company, Man Up to Cancer, which recently started a support group at the Dempsey Center! Part 1: Susan Giarolo is a Kripalu trained Yoga teacher, offering classes at Presence of Mind Studio, and holds certifications in Let Your Yoga Dance, Restorative Yoga, Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra and is also a Reiki 1 and 2 Master, a certified 2.0 Yoga Informed Recovery Coach and doTerra Wellness Advocate. Susan began her journey in her late 20’s going through seven failed back & neck surgeries where she was placed on pain medication. Discovering Yoga helped her get off pain medication and 31 years later she is excited to share her story, her struggles and what she considers her path to her authentic, best self in order to inspire hope in others who may be suffering from addiction.
